Cate Blanchett Enters The House with a Clock in Its Walls

Variety is reporting that Cate Blanchett could soon be signing on to Eli Roth’s adaptation of John Bellairs book, The House with a Clock in Its Walls as neighborhood witch Mrs. Zimmerman. The production, brought to us by Amblin Entertainment and American Mythology Entertainment, has already announced that Jack Black will play the eccentric Uncle Jonathan.

The film is based on the 1973 novel which centers around 10 year-old Lewis Barnavelt. Lewis goes on to visit his uncle in Michigan and starts to unearth a world of creepiness in his Uncle Jonathan’s house.  He uncovers that his uncle is a warlock, which is when the journey takes a turn for the worse.

With the script being written by Eric Kripke, best known for his work on the TV show Supernatural, and Eli Roth at the helm, one has to wonder how family friendly this film will be. Horror fans will be looking forward to see how much of Roth’s gory signature will be left on this adaptation.

Horror News Network will keep you updated as more details on The House with a Clock in Its Walls emerge.
