Black Horror Comedy ‘The Final Girls’ Premieres at SXSW

‘The Final Girls’ is premiering tonight at SXSW. The black horror comedy is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas’). It’s produced by Groundswell’s Michael London and Janice Williams and stars Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), Malin Akerman, Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), Thomas Middleditch (Sililcon Valley), and Nina Dobrey (Vampire Diaries). The story centers around high school girl Max and her friends are transported into a 1980’s horror film, which starred her famous scream queen mother. Before they get back home, they must first fight off hormonal camp counselors and a machete-carrying killer, in addition to finding a way to get outside of the movie. SPWA has already bought the international rights to the film from WME.
