Danzig’s Blackest of the Black Festival Brings Metal, Freaks, and Horror to Southern California

Saturday, May 27 was a perfect day for metal fans in Orange County, California. It was Day 2 of Glen Danzig’s “Blackest of the Black” festival at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado Canyon. While this location may sound remote, it’s next to Irvine Lake and right around the corner from the City of Orange. The weather was beautiful, there were grassy, shady areas to sit, and two stages of non-stop crushing metal. Trailer Released for The Beauty of Horror 2: Ghouliana’s Creepatorium

Fans of horror comics have been following Alan Robert’s work for many years now. Whenever you think he has done it all, he comes up with something else ground-breaking and exciting. Lately, Robert has been focusing on “The Beauty of Horror 2: Ghouliana’s Creepatorium – Another GOREgeous Coloring Book,” the follow up to his previous #1 best-selling adult coloring book which will be available September 12, 2017.

Not one to rest with merely the creation of the new book, Robert has written and produced a GOREgeous trailer for it. The trailer production team includes director Robert Hall (Teen Wolf TV Series, Laid to Rest, Chromeskull) and Director of Photography Brandon Trost (Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, Ghost Rider 2, Crank: High Voltage) with makeup effects by Hall’s Almost Human FX Shop (Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Teen Wolf). Additional members of the team include Nick Principe (American Muscle, Chromeskull) and Josh Petrino (Contracted, Hatchet III) with voice narration by Jane Dashow (Law and Order, Homeland). Mondo Reveals Board Game Based on John Carpenter’s The Thing

Mondo and USAopoly announced today the release and provided images for “The Thing™ Infection at Outpost 31.” The game will be released in October and both a regular and an exclusive version will be available.

The regular version of the game will feature artwork and designs by Justin Erickson of Phantom City Creative. For the collectors out there, Mondo will be releasing an exclusive version of the game, sold exclusively through MondoTees.com. The exclusive version of the game will be limited to 1,982 copies, and feature different packaging artwork by Jock. The limited edition game will also come with a Mondo print, enamel pin, and two additional sculpted movers: the Norwegian character and the Palmer Thing. read more read more

“Another Evil” Trailer Debuts

Dark Sky Films released a trailer today for its upcoming film “Another Evil.” Written and directed by Carson Mell (Eastbound & Down and Silicon Valley), the horror comedy stars Steve Zissis (Roadies, Togetherness) and Jennifer Irwin (The Goldbergs, Halt and Catch Fire) as a husband and wife dealing with their own haunted vacation home. Mark Proksch (Better Call Saul, Son of Zorn) stars as a quirky ghost hunter helping the couple catch their would-be demons. The film will be available in select theaters and on VOD on May 5, 2017. read more read more

WonderCon – David F. Sandberg Talks “Annabelle: Creation”

Horror News Network caught up with David F. Sandberg before the Warner Bros. panel at WonderCon to ask him about directing “Annabelle: Creation.” Sandberg is currently best known for his break-out hit “Lights Out” and looks to continue to be a horror golden-boy based on the crowd reaction during the film footage at the panel.

In this interview, David tells us that this was his chance to do a “classic, old-school kind of horror movie” and that one of the hardest parts of filming was the doll, Annabelle, herself due to the restrictions of not letting her move around on-screen. read more read more

WonderCon 2017: Saturday on the Show Floor

WonderCon Anaheim is being held March 31 through April 2, 2017 at the Anaheim Convention Center.  Now also known as Anaheim Comic-Con due to its affiliation with San Diego Comic-Con and its parent company, Comic-Con International, this convention is growing every year. Large and small press come to sell their wares, movie studios bring clips to impress thousands of fans in the Arena, and gaming companies bring their latest games to challenge the attendees. Because of the large outdoor area, the show is exceptionally popular with cosplayers. Brian Gray had his camera out and ready and got some great shots of creators, cosplayers, and horror merchandise. Danzig’s Blackest of the Black Festival Brings Some Springtime Horror to Southern California

It would seem that Southern California is getting a bit of Halloween in May this year at the “Blackest of the Black” festival. Glen Danzig is bringing his vision of darkness to Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, California over Memorial Day weekend. While this location may sound remote, it’s next to Irvine Lake and right around the corner from the City of Orange. DANZIG and MINISTRY are confirmed to perform on Saturday, May 27 of the “Blackest Of The Black” festival. The two-day event will feature over 20 artists as seen below and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES will headline Friday, May 26. read more read more
