Mer-men are apparently in fashion right now. You probably already know about Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water,” but you may not have heard yet about “House by the Lake.” “House by the Lake” leaves behind the romantic fantasy of del Toro’s ‘Water’ and goes instead for the tension of a mentally-challenged child and her would-be imaginary friend the Fish Man. If you like creepy kids that are sleep-walking, tearing their family apart with their weirdness, and not staying in the house like they are supposed to (and who doesn’t, really), you’ll want to check out the trailer below.

“The Terror of Hallow’s Eve,” a horror movie with a 1980’s vibe and anti-bullying message, will make its world premiere at London’s FrightFest on August 28, 2017. In anticipation of the event, Horror News Network’s Stephanie Shamblin Gray caught up with director Todd Tucker to discuss the true events the film is based on, getting music from John Carpenter, and what’s next for the film.
Horror News Network caught up with Melanie Scrofano from “Wynonna Earp” in the press room at SDCC. We were very fortunate to hear her thoughts on pregnancy on set and her internal turmoil leading up to telling the show-runners about it. This is a show that empowers women and this is a great example of how that premise extends beyond what is on the screen.

The “Mr. Mercedes” Panel at San Diego Comic-Con will become legendary for bringing a massive cast for a known product into a pretty small room. Hundreds, or possibly even thousands, of fans lined up to see the trailer, clips, and cast and were turned away. Those who did get into the panel got a glimpse of the new show and insights from the cast.
Comic-Con Synopsis: Jack Bender (EP/director, Lost, Under the Dome), Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful), Kelly Lynch (The L Word), Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men, The Practice), Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight), and Breeda Wool (UnREAL) discuss their new original series on AT&T Audience Network based on the bestselling Stephen King novel, which follows a demented killer who taunts a retired police detective and the crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again. read more read more
Although this show will start airing the Monday after SDCC, NBC brought much of the cast and the creators of “Midnight, Texas”, as well as Charlaine Harris (author of the book the show is based on) to the convention. The entire pilot was screened and crowd feedback was generally very good. Horror fans will be interested to know that the show has many more horror elements than the advertising would indicate. Expect possessions, creatures that feast on energy, dead people, and were-animals to be regular occurrences on the series. read more read more
SYFY introduced their upcoming horror series “Ghost Wars” to a packed house at SDCC on Saturday evening. Joining the very full panel were stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Avan Jogia, Kandyse McClure, and Meat Loaf Aday. They were joined by creator/showrunner Simon Barry, writer/executive producer Dennis Heaton, and executive producer Chad Oakes.
The cast and creators let the audience know that “Ghost Wars” takes place in a remote Alaskan town called Port Moore. The town is very isolated, only accessible four months a year, and has a big ghost problem. Barry explained that he is a fan of horror from the 1970’s and 1980’s and is inspired by the likes of Sam Raimi and John Carpenter. This was evidenced in the trailer shown which was loaded with horror elements and tension between the characters. read more read more
