AMC Has Renewed The Walking Dead For Season 8

Announced in a tweet that should surprise literally no one, AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for an eighth season:

The news comes a week before Season 7 is set to premiere. Despite the slight ratings dip, the fact that its viewership is much stronger than every other scripted television show makes it a no-brainer (no pun intended!) for AMC to continue to renew the series.

Season 8 will premiere with the 100th episode of the series. Viewers can expect more greasy cool cats and rugged loners; and following up on their “Who shot J.R.?” routine, Daryl Dixon may very well end up jumping his motorcycle over a zombie shark in this hotly anticipated upcoming season.

John has loved movie monsters for as far back as he can remember. He's since collected up as many comics, statues, and autographed material related to movies and music that he can get his hands on. He is particularly interested in the critical and analytical discussion of the best stories the horror genre has to offer. One of his largest works on the topic is a study on the portrayals of people with disabilities in horror films.
