Amazon Confirms ‘Dead Ringers’ Series

Variety is reporting that Amazon has confirmed a TV series adaptation of David Cronenberg’s 1988 film Dead Ringers, which will star Rachel Weisz, who is reported to have pitched the idea. The Cronenberg film followed the sinister and twisted practices of twin gynecologists, played by Jeremy Irons.  In the upcoming series, Weisz will be portraying the Mantle twins.

Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television for Amazon Studios told Variety “This update to Dead Ringers explores the darker side of medicine, obsession, and the human condition, making it a compelling addition to our slate of Amazon Original series.”  He also went on to say, “Rachel Weisz will captivate the Amazon Prime Video global audience with her take on these two ruthless, twisted characters.”

Acclaimed screenwriter Alice Birch (Normal People, Revolt) is set to write and produce the series. For updates on the Dead Ringers series, keep it locked to Horror News Network.
