While she did not give any info as to which role she will play in the series, the veteran actress adds experience to the series which is said to have a much darker tone than the film. Barbeau will join Derek Mears who will play Swamp Thing, Virginia Madsen, Henderson Wade, Andy Bean, Jennifer Beals, Will Patton, Crystal Reed, and Maria Sten in the production.

Written and directed by Wes Craven in 1982, Swamp Thing tells the tale of a scientist that is turned into a monster after his laboratory is sabotaged by a paramilitary leader. The film starred Adrienne Barbeau, Ray Wise, Dick Durock and Louis Jordan. A sequel, Return of the Swamp Thing was released in 1989.

Swamp Thing will premiere in May of this year. Keep it locked to Horror News Network for the latest on Swamp Thing.
