A Quick Guide for Horror for Comic-Con@Home

by Stephanie Shamblin Gray

As we all know, COVID-19 has prevented most live events from taking place this year. Not to be deterred, Comic-Con International, also known as San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), will be hosting Comic-Con@Home, featuring five days of programming for everyone to enjoy. For readers who have followed along in the past, you know that SDCC always provides a LOT of horror content. While getting into the event is usually akin to receiving a “Golden Ticket,” this year it is as easy as knowing where to look on the SDCC schedule. Below you will find a quick guide of how to get started and a list of the announced horror panels.

The programming takes place on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 22–26. The panels themselves will not be available until those dates but you can go to the Comic-Con@Home programming website to see all that is offered: https://www.comic-con.org/cciathome/2020/programming-schedule.

Search by day or browse the schedule. When you find something you want to watch, click on the “Watch When Available” link or the YouTube link provided. Note, however, that the links are not active until the official start time of the panel. The majority of the panels will also be available after the July 22-26 dates, although CCI notes that there are some that may have a limited time period attached to them. The interface appears very simple and looks like this:

All the panels will also be available on the Comic-Con YouTube channel, so you can also access them there if that is easier. https://www.youtube.com/user/ComicCon

In addition to all of the horror panels listed, there are so many other interesting and diverse panels for movies, TV shows, comics, how-to, and games so look through the schedule to check if there is anything else of interest. This is a unique opportunity to attend a very popular event and see what it has to offer. Below is a list of horror panels by day with one panel featured to provide an idea of what to expect and the others just listed by name and time. Unfortunately at the time of this writing, no horror panels are listed on Wednesday but Saturday is a standout that more than makes up for it.
