El Rey Network’s ‘Kaiju Christmas’ Godzilla Marathon Returns on December 22

It is clear that the El Rey Network understands what the holidays are all about: giving.  Therefore, it should be no surprise that El Rey’s annual giant monster mash, Kaiju Christmas, is once again taking over their airwaves on December 22.

The marathon, featuring 96 hours of Godzilla films, begins on Saturday December 22 at 6 a.m. and will run until Wednesday December 26 at 6 a.m.  The schedule is a bit different this year, as El Rey likes to switch up the titles from time to time, but there is sure to be more than enough city-stopping action to make your yearly visit with the relatives a little more palatable. read more

Steve Dash, Actor Who Played Jason in ‘Friday the 13th Part 2’ Passes Away

We have extremely sad news to pass along today as Steve Dash, the actor who played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part 2 has passed away. Dash was added to the slasher franchise when Cliff Cudney called upon him to replace Warrington Gillette as the iconic slasher.

Friday the 13th Part 2 was released on April 30, 1981 and kickstarted the Jason Voorhees phenomenon. In this version of the film we were introduced to a grown-up Jason who donned a burlap sack and was out for blood.

Back on December 4th we reported that Dash had posted an update on his health via Facebook where he told fans that he had been suffering from diabetes, blood clots and a bad heart over the past year. read more

George Takei Joins Second Season of ‘The Terror’

Deadline is reporting that George Takei has signed on to join the second season of The Terror. Joining Takei on the AMC series will be Derek Mio, Cristina Rodlo, and James Saito. Josef Kubota Wladyka will direct while Max Borenstein and Alexander Woo handle the writing duties.

Season two of The Terror will focus on the Japanese-American community and be set against the backdrop of World War II.  History buffs will know that specific time period was a dark time for the United States as President Franklin D. Roosevelt forced people of Japanese ancestry to be incarcerated in concentration camps. read more

‘The Last Drive-In: A Very Joe Bob Christmas’ Airs on Shudder on December 21

As announced at the Shudder Panel this past October at NYCC 2018, Briggs will continue with the holiday theme for his next Shudder special called “A Very Joe Bob Christmas”, which will air on Friday, December 21st at 9 p.m, streaming live in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

Briggs stated that the films for this marathon will “…not be the predictable ones.  These are the films that I think think you should be watching at Christmas.”  Briggs also teased cameos on the marathon by “two iconic guests” and mentioned that both of them have “action figures made of them.” read more

Amazing New Poster and Gory Trailer for ‘One Must Fall’

One Must Fall has been on our radar since writer/director Antonio Pantoja first launched a fundraising campaign for this, his first full-length feature, in the summer of 2017. Now here we are at the end of 2018 and the first official trailer is here along with an amazing poster by artist Christopher Shy who also did the poster art for Mandy and Shin Godzilla (click here for some of his work).

Described as an 80’s slasher film, One Must Fall tells a merry tale about what happens when a crime scene cleanup crew is on a job where a killer has slaughtered a bunch of folks but, unfortunately for them, remained behind at the scene of the crime. read more

Ashley Romans Joins ‘NOS4A2’

Deadline is reporting that Ashley Romans has officially joined the cast of AMC’s NOS4A2. The up-and-coming actress is set to play the role of FBI agent Tabitha Hutter.  Romans is known for her roles on Christmas Crime Story, I’m Dying Up Here, and Shameless. She will join Ashleigh Cummings, Zachary Quinto, Virginia Kull, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Olafur Darri Olafsson on the series.

Based on Joe Hill’s book by the same name, NOS4A2 follows Victoria McQueen, a woman who has the ability to find things that have gone missing. Victoria comes face to face with the deadly Charlie Manx, a supernatural creature that feeds on the souls of children. The 720 page novel was published by William Morrow and Company and released on April 30, 2013. The novel has received mostly positive reviews and even landed on Time Magazine’s ten best books of 2013. read more

James Wan Says His ‘Batman’ Horror Movie ‘Was Kind of Real for 2 Seconds’

Horror hero turned big budget hitmaker James Wan is making the press rounds as the domestic theatrical release date for Aquaman draws near. While he began his career with hot horror properties like Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring, the director has since flexed his filmmaking muscles with big budget mainstream projects like Furious 7 and the upcoming aquatic superhero adventure starring Jason Momoa. It turns out, though, that Aquaman isn’t the only DC property Wan originally considered when pitching ideas to Warner Bros. Pictures, and a horror version of Batman was once a glimmer in his eye for a brief period of time. read more
