Capcom Offers Prize Money to Intrepid Monster Hunters

To celebrate the release of their new game Monster Hunter: World, Capcom is offering a $70,000 reward for any fearless monster hunters who wish to risk life-and-limb to capture solid evidence of the existence of a variety of cryptozoological creatures.

According to IGN, the video game developer has partnered”…with Jon Downes of The Centre of Fortean Zoology, Capcom is giving hunters until June 30 to provide verifiable evidence of everything from Bigfoot to The Cornish Owlman.”

Downes states that “I’ve spent the majority of my life travelling across the globe to hunt for evidence of these creatures.  Although I have had some successes, I have yet to find that elusive proof and it is time for me to offer my help as I throw down the gauntlet to the next generation.” read more

New Politically Charged Teaser for ‘The First Purge’

Yesterday saw the release of a new trailer for Blumhouse’s The First Purge, the fourth in the highly successful Purge franchise.  The first film was released in 2013 and grossed over $89 million versus its $3million budget.  DeMonaco once again has penned the script, with Gerard McMurray taking over directing duties. While the Purge movies have always been sort of been a juxtaposition of the comfortably numb suburban life with the violence and grittiness of the “annual purge,” this installment hints at taking a more potent social commentary. read more

Claire Foy Shines in New Trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Unsane’

20th Century Fox have just unveiled a gripping new trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane, and it looks like a real treat fans of psychological thrillers! In the film, Claire Foy (The Crown, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) plays a character who is misled into being voluntarily committed to a mental institution after years of hiding from a viscous stalker who may or may not exist. You can watch the thrilling clip for yourself below:

Soderbergh, who will direct the movie, has tackled mental illness in his films before, most recently in 2013’s Side Effects. The script for Unsane was written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, who have previously collaborated on action comedies like The Spy Next Door and Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector… so this film is a dramatic departure from their earlier work. The movie will also star Juno Temple (Maleficent, The Dark Knight Rises) and Aimee Mullins (Stranger Things Season One). read more

‘Deadpool 2’ Chases ‘Slender Man’ into August

Have you ever wondered what scares Slender Man?  Turns out that Deadpool does!

In a move that surprised no one, Sony Pictures has decided to move their upcoming horror film Slender Man from its original release date in May to August 24.

This move may actually benefit the film, as late August has provided a fertile ground for horror films in the last few years (Don’t Breathe, Annabelle: Creation).  It was essential that Sony moved this film from mid-May as it would have debuted on the very same weekend as Deadpool 2 in an already over saturated marketplace for blockbusters, with Avengers Infinity War and the young Han Solo film both being released in May.  Deadpool 2 moved into the May 18 slot two weeks ago (after Fox shook up their X-Men universe titles, shipping New Mutants from an April 2018 release to February of 2019). read more
