Happy Halloween from all of us here at Horror News Network!
On Halloween 2015 we had the chance to visit a local Halloween attraction that always leaves a smile to those that go.
Since 1980, Bethel Pumpkin House has hosted the largest private pumpkin display that’s open to the public on Halloween. Over the last 3 decades, the number of jack-o-lanterns as grown from 50 to more than 600. Across an enchanted yard on dormant gardens, scaffolds, and rooftops these hand-carved pumpkins capture the essence of All-Hallow-Eve. Bethel Pumpkin House is only open on Halloween night from dusk ’till dawn. This event is free to the public, and quite a bunch of fun.
Blessed Samhain and Happy Halloween!

Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES is a thrilling, six-episode event series from creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI ASST. DIR. WALTER SKINNER, Mulder and Scully’s boss, who walks a fine line between loyalty to these investigators and accountability to his superiors. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. THE X-FILES debuts with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). The upcoming event series will encompass a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the original show’s seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee. The all-new episodes will feature appearances by guest stars, including Joel McHale (“Community”), Robbie Amell (“The Flash”), Lauren Ambrose (“Dig,” “Six Feet Under”), Annabeth Gish (“The Bridge”), Annet Mahendru (“The Americans”), Rhys Darby (“Flight of the Conchords”), Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley”) and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as “Cigarette Smoking Man.” Three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.
AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ has been renewed for a seventh season. In addition, it’s companion show, ‘Talking Dead,’ has also been renewed.
AMC president Charlie Collier said “Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals. When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible. The result: More Walking and Talking. Hooray.”

Horror doesn’t often enter the Oscar conversation, however there have been a few that have gotten nominations in the past, including ‘The Exorcist,’ ‘The Omen’ and Rosemary’s Baby.’ The Austrian arthouse horror thriller ‘Goodnight Mommy’ is generating buzz. It was acquired by Radius at the 2014 Venice Film Festival for a low six-figures but has since cleared $1M in it’s seven weekend run at the box office. It is the eighth foreign film this year to do so. The Academy is taking the film serious, despite not being too fond of the horror genre. The film is being screened for Academy members on Halloween. In addition, film d.p. Martin Gschlacht won at the European Film Awards three days ago.
