The trailer for the supernatural thriller ‘The Forest’ has been released.    The film centers around Japan’s legendary Aokigahara Forest, also known as “Suicide Forest”. It has been long associated with demons of Japanese mythology.  It is a popular place to commit suicide, with 105 bodies found in 2003 alone. In the 1980s an estimated 100 suicides happened every year in the forest. With the problem being as bad as it is, there are now signs marking the entrance of the forest which urge people to consider their families and to seek help before taking their own lives. read more

Martina accepts the crossing naturally, but on the way the thugs kidnap her, determined to cause all sorts of sinister and gruesome acts, both physical and psychological. Music Box Picks Up U.S. Rights to Horror Comedy ‘Therapy for a Vampire’

Music Box Films has picked up the U.S. rights for the Australian horror comedy ‘Therapy for a Vampire’.  David Ruehm directed the film, which won the audience award for best foreign feature at this year’s Montreal Fantasia international film festival.  It stars Tobias Moretti as a centuries old vampire dissatisfied with his marriage, of the same age.   It takes place in 1930s Vienna during the brith of psychoanalysis and he employs Sigmund Freud (Karl Fischer) to help him with his problems.  Co-stars include Jeanette Hain, Dominic Oley and Cornelia Ivancan.  read more

Ten Things You Might Not Know About … The Mist!

10. Director Frank Darabont did not originally plan to include the giant, 6-legged behemoth which walks over the car, even though this is one of the novella’s most popular scenes. Several CafeFX special effects technicians convinced him to put it in the film.

9. Frank Darabont originally wrote an opening scene showing the military scientist referenced to by Private Jessup accidentally opening the dimension portal that allows the creatures and the mist to enter our world. Over dinner, Andre Braugher questioned Darabont whether this scene was necessary. After thinking about it for a week, Darabont was convinced to scrap the scene, leaving the nature of the mist more ambiguous. read more
