Today, publisher Lace Mamba Global and developer Shiver Games confirm the final release date for the upcoming 3D horror adventure game Lucius: The game is now scheduled to be published in October 2012. “Over the past few months we have internally reviewed our game and decided that we should spend more time reworking and improving areas that influenced the storytelling and overall presentation of the game. Unfortunately, even small changes in these areas take time to implement. Therefore we also decided to spend this time improving all the cut scenes in the game, which has resulted in a huge increase in the level of graphical detail. We’ll now be reaching beta status soon, and are looking forward to releasing Lucius in October 2012”, explains Johannes Aikio, founder of and lead designer at Shiver Games. A new set of screenshots, showing the latest cut scene improvements, has been published today.

Dieter Laser Leaves Human Centipede 3

It's official, Dieter Laser has abandon ship seven weeks before production is supposed to begin on "Human Centipede 3." He would be key, we'll see how this shakes out, as legal action is said to be pending against him for this. Screenread reported Laser's official statement: It’s very simple: I loved the story when it was told, got the contract and the promise to have the script in 4 to 6 weeks. When it arrived – half a year later and only after the official announcement – I didn’t like the realization at all, couldn’t identify with the character the way it was written and developed immediately and enthusiastically in a day and night marathon a version full of concrete and practical suggestions which would enable me to play the lead full throttle – same procedure as with Dr. Heiter – but this time it also would have had some unavoidable effects to the dramatic structure. That was too much for Tom and since he couldn’t live with my suggestions and I as a method actor couldn’t identify with his version, I told him that I couldn’t see any other way than that he would have to ‘change horses’. That’s it.”

Sympathy for the Undead: The Top Underrated Zombie Movies

by: Sean McLaughlin

As the second season of AMC’s brilliant series “The Walking Dead” prods slowly, but menacingly, to a close, we’re reminded again that the zombie genre is experiencing a golden age like American pop culture has never seen.Television, movies, toys, billboards…..everywhere you look the real undead are approaching mainstream territory currently ruled by the “other” undead, the tweener-tastic vampires.I’m hoping that my favorite horror subgenre does not become romanticized in the same way, and in that vein I’m offering up some of my favorite zombie movies, beyond the ones that everyone is already familiar with. These eight films are not exactly Romero 101, but they’re also not too obscure or unfamiliar to leave a bad taste in your mouth. While horror fans everywhere await the 2013 release of Max Brooks’ stunningly-detailed World War Z, the following zombie flicks should hold over the masses yearning for some cinematic brains to devour. But again…..these are some of my own personal choices of films that are underappreciated, and are meant solely to provide entertainment. After all, there’ll never be a REAL zombie apocalypse……right?

Rosario Dawson’s Occult Crimes Taskforce to be Resurrected

O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce, an Image Comics series that launched in 2006 was co-created by developing Rosario Dawson and David Atchison. The series never made its way into any film/televisoin development, but withe the success of "The Walking Dead" o..oh, how the climate has changed. "Walking Dead" producer Gale Anne Hurd and A&E are now in development with the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter: "Rosario Dawson is teaming with The Walking Dead's Gale Anne Hurd to bring her graphic novel to A&E with both women attached as executive producers. The scripted drama, an increasingly appealing genre for the cable network, will explore the inner workings of the task force, which was established after the Civil War to make the New York City streets safe from practitioners of black magic, demons from another dimension and all manner of supernatural malcontents." The show "will center on the character of Sophia Ortiz, a new member of the bureau who uses magic, spells, ghosts, the undead and the unnatural. At the heart of the story is an ongoing struggle between the O.C.T. detectives and an organized demon-force attempting to take over Manhattan."

UFO Online starts second beta phase

#ufo

Today gamigo's turn-based strategy game UFO Online: Fight for Earth will begin its second closed beta phase. The game's developers, Funatics, have been using the time since the end of the very successful first test, during which the community provided lots of positive and constructive feedback, to create an improved, expanded and even nicer looking version. Highlights of this new milestone are the expanded PvE content, two new alien characters and a loot system that allows players to pocket loot during a mission. Missions have been made more challenging and diverse by random alien spawn points and maps. Combat has also been given more depth with the addition of different target zones – standing with one's back to an opponent is not a good choice if one hopes to survive. The expandable player base has been given an complete overhaul. Its new appearance provides a better overview and is more interactive.
